I remember reading a book by Steve Chandler- Steve Chandler, 100 Ways to Motivate Yourself: Change Your Life Forever where he talked about how he struggled with working and feeling guilty about not spending time with his kids. His solution? He took them grocery shopping, letting them turn it into a learning experience while he got work done.
That simple shift in perspective inspired me to rethink my own time in the kitchen. Instead of seeing it as just another chore that takes me away from everything else, I started using it as a time to multitask and bring more joy into my home. And let me tell you—it changed everything!
“When I am happy, I see the happiness in others. When I am compassionate, I see compassion in other people. When I am full of energy and hope, I see opportunities all around me. But when I am angry, I see other people as unnecessarily testy. When I am depressed, I notice that people’s eyes look sad. When I am weary, I see the world as boring and unattractive. Who I am is what I see!”

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the week ahead, take a deep breath. You are capable. You are equipped. And this week, you are going to thrive, not just survive.
One simple way to lighten the load? Make kitchen time work for you. Instead of seeing meal prep as just another chore, use that time to multitask and bring more joy, connection, and productivity into your home.
“It’s hard to stay motivated when you’re confused. When you simplify your life, it gathers focus. The more you can focus your life, the more motivated it gets.”

Turn Cooking Time Into Growth Time
If you feel like there’s never enough time for personal growth, here’s your chance! Try one (or all) of these ideas while you cook, I did too and they changed everything.
- Listen and Learn – Play a podcast, audiobook, or Bible reading while chopping veggies.
- Pray With Purpose – Let your cooking time become a sacred moment of prayer and reflection.
- Dream and Visualize – Use this time to mentally map out your goals and envision your future.
- Sing Your Heart Out – Whether you’re on key or off, praise and practice those vocal cords!
Make Kitchen Time Family Time
Instead of seeing dinner prep as time away from your loved ones, turn it into quality time with them:
- Storytime in the Kitchen – If you have little ones, let them read to you while you cook.
- Listen to Their World – Sometimes, kids share the most when they’re simply playing near you. Be present and listen.
- Homework Hub – Set up a spot at the kitchen island where your kids can do their homework while you cook. You’re right there to help when needed!
- Mini Cooking Class – Let them mix, stir, taste, and set the table. These little moments build big memories.
“The next time you’re worried about something, ask yourself, ‘What small thing can I do right now?’ Then do it. Remember not to ask, ‘What could I possibly do to make this whole thing go away?’ That question does not get you into action at all.”

Focus on What You CAN Do
This week, don’t stress over what’s out of your control. Instead:
- Celebrate what you accomplish. Every small win matters.
- Focus on your “done” list instead of your to-do list.
- Give yourself grace. No pressure, just progress.
You Have Everything You Need
God has already given you the wisdom, strength, and inspiration to handle everything in front of you. Lean on Him, trust the process, and step into this week with confidence.

Now, find one thing you’re going to get done this week, do it well, and celebrate it! Need some extra encouragement? Send me an email—I’d love to cheer you on. hello@fumipb.com
