Does Anyone Even Care?
You pour your heart into something—whether it’s a blog post, a creative project, or a meal for your family—only to be met with… silence. No applause, no recognition, not even a simple “thank you.” You start wondering, Why am I even doing this? Does anyone care?
I’ve been there.
As moms, as wives, as creators, we give so much of ourselves—whether it’s planning special moments, making sacrifices, or just trying to do something meaningful. And when it feels like no one notices, it’s tempting to stop. To pull back. To question whether it was even worth the effort.
But here’s what I’ve learned: those early moments, the ones where no one seems to care, are actually the most important ones.
When No One Notices, Keep Going Anyway
I remember times when I have gone all out to make a new recipe, remember this one time it was a creamy penne pasta recipe my friend gave me. I spent extra time in the kitchen, plated everything beautifully, and waited for their reaction. It was the same as every other time. There was no , “This is so good , Mom!”..” OMG mom you should make this again” . They ate it, sure—but ……the reaction was different than what I had envisioned. At least that is what I thought I deserved. Maybe it’s just me.
At first, I felt invisible. But then I had to remind myself—was I doing this just for the reaction? Or was I doing it because I actually enjoyed creating something special?
It’s the same with anything new we start. Whether it’s a blog,a project at work, a business, a Bible study habit, or just showing up for your family in new ways, the beginning often feels like a one-sided effort. But that doesn’t mean it’s not working.
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
What If the Beginning is About You?
Before anyone else believes in what you’re doing, you have to believe in it yourself.
Before anyone else values what you offer, you have to see its worth.
Before anyone else shows up for you, you have to show up first.
Maybe these quiet beginnings aren’t a sign that no one cares—maybe they’re an invitation. A chance to build confidence, to refine what you’re doing, to make sure your why is strong enough to keep you going when results aren’t instant.
Feeling Invisible? Here’s What to Do Next
Instead of looking for validation, I have had to remind myself of this so many times.
- Ask yourself why you started. Were you hoping for instant applause, or is this something meaningful to you?
- Focus on what you’re building, not who’s watching. Growth happens in the unseen places.
- Recognize the power of consistency. Most people don’t notice at first—but they will over time.
“People are rewarded in public for what they practice in private!!” Terri Savelle Foy
This season of feeling unseen isn’t wasted. It’s preparation. It’s a foundation. And if you keep going, eventually, the people who need what you have to offer will show up.
In the next post, we’ll talk about the real game-changer: why others need to see you believe in it first
